Poor Engadget Mobile… T-Mobile have sent them a nasty notice demanding that they stop using the colour magenta in the Engadget Mobile logo, because it seems that magenta is taken.
It seems T-Mobile looked over the gentle request route in favour of one of those arrogant demands written by nasty lawyers in big companies. Would Engadget Mobile of responded to a nice request? It’s immaterial now as they have launched a campaign to set magenta free from the T-Mobile overlords!
Surely, T-Mobile must have expected some form of retaliation? Or did they expect a humble apology and removal of logo? Either way, Engadget Mobile is not rolling over… Engadget Mobile changed their entire background to magenta, but more importantly, they managed to start a fire. Now, other blogs are joining the campaign to set magenta free, and T-Mobile now has a nice little PR disaster on their hands. The sad thing is that deep down, you feel T-Mobile had a valid arguement… they just totally screwed themselves in how they presented it. Check out the Engadget Mobile logo below – anyone feel this infringes a little on T-Mobile?
