For those of you that aren’t aware, today is Europe’s fifth Safer Internet Day. Both children and parents are being educated about the dangers online, through assemblies and other events held at schools. Sessions will cover the risks of sharing too much personal data online and encourage children to think about their behaviour online and how to stay safe. Parents will also be advised to monitor their children’s online activity, and it will once again be reinforced that people that children talk to online, may not be who they say they are. The Child Exploitation and Online Protection, who are co-ordinating the UK’s involvement today, say that the message is now getting through to children.
